Connect2Protect is a partner and friend of PFLAG Family Reunion Detroit Chapter for People of Color. The organization is hosting an informational meeting at one of the schools they are working with to establish a GSA group.
Of course PFLAG Family Reunion will be there!
Please see the announcement and flyer below:
One of C2P®’s structural change objectives this year is to help establish Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) or similar clubs in Detroit Public Schools. We are now working with students and teachers at two schools: Detroit School of Arts and Renaissance high school to potentially get GSAs up and running for the fall. Tomorrow, we will be holding a small GSA informational session for students and staff at Detroit School of Arts (123 Selden St Detroit, MI 48201) to provide information about the importance of GSAs in creating safe schools for youth. DSA’s principal and teacher sponsor have been extremely helpful!
Attached, courtesy of Imani Rothschild of Detroit GSA Network, is the flyer advertising this event. C2P® will provide pizza. If any of the youth you serve attend DSA or other DPS schools and would like to be involved, please send them! I can offer limited transportation. If you would like to attend or speak at this meeting, or if you have services or informational materials you would like to disperse, please let me know.
